What would you advise a student if he wants to build his personal brand?

This is a great question for anybody, especially for students because whether you’re just starting out or finishing your studies, you are trying to deeply figure out what is it that you want to do later in life.

I have a system when it comes to personal branding which is pretty easy to follow. You can imagine a triangle with personal branding in the middle, social sales design, ecosystem design and workflow design on the sides of the triangle.

Essentially, what this means is:

  1. Social sales design is you mindset, your point of view, what you stand for, what you stand against, and staying consistent to that. Things are going to change, you are going to have different influences come to your world and you might change your opinion on something. However, your point of view should relatively stay the same.
  2. Ecosystem design is about how you communicate with the outside world and communities that you build up. For instance, FB messenger - a lot of people communicate there - versus let’s say if you build up a community on GetHub (if you are a programmer). It’s all about creating that ecosystem and using the social selling design mindset to share information and your expertise. What actually builds your brand is your knowledge and your consistency with it.
  3. Workflow design is figuring out what you need to do versus what you can outsource and automate so you can focus on the most important thing which is knowledge.

These three make up your personal brand which is in the middle of the entire system.

Get started there, and if you have any follow-up questions, definitely reach out!
